Pierre Villon, (Ginsburger)
Pierre Villon whose actual name was Ginsburger was born in Soultz (Haut Rhin) August 21st 1901. He was an architect and in the war he prepared with Pierre Politzer the publication of the underground bulletin “l’Université Libre”. Arrested on October 8th 1940, he was jailed in Gaillon (Eure), he escaped January 20th 1942 and replaced Politzer at the direction of the intellectual Committee of the Front National.
He became later general secretary of this organization and participated early 1943, to the creation of the Conseil National de la Résistance (CNR). President of the military actions committee of the CNR, Pierre Villon organized the fusion of the different fighting groups of the French resistance within the Forces Françaises de l’Intérieur (F.F.I.).
He shared with Jacques Debû-Bridel till Marsh 1978 the presidency of the Association Nationale des Anciens Combattants de la Resistance. Pierre Villon died on November 6th 1980.
